Denali Hwy Road Trip

Last Saturday, we went for a LONG drive around the Denali Hwy. Since I seldom go on the road trips when the guys go hunting and fishing, I don't get to see as much scenery...thus the trips this summer. Don't want to miss out on Alaska beauty.
This picture is a marker for the road we traveled. It is maintained in the summer (it is NOT paved...whew...130+ miles of dirt road) only.

Two Bit Lake in background...the guys like to hike in to this one...
...part of the Alaska range...

My favorite snowcapped mountain picture...Jim said it is probably fresh snow from the look of it.
The old dead gnarled trees were up on the hill where I went to take the previous picture. Quite unusual...probably older than we are.

These two pics are called Rainbow Mountain. Apparently Phil and a friend went 4-wheeling up there a few years ago.
See the pipe coming out of the culvert? It is fresh mountain water ... tasted wonderful! I even stepped out of my crocs and put my feet into the water. SO COLD, and wonderful.
My favorite shot overall.
Jim trying to see dall sheep with his field glasses.
He didn't find any...too bad!
Susitna River...it winds along the road for EVER.
Can you see the momma and baby moose in this last picture? They were really WAY out there. I used my 10X zoom to get it this close. Click on the picture to get a bigger view.
We had a really nice time (EXCEPT FOR THE HORRIBLE COFFEE WE BOUGHT AT THE HEALY CHEVRON STATION!!! grrrr) Trying to figure out what our next sight=seeing trip will be...

That's so cool that you and Mr. Mcbroom are doing all this site-seeing this summer. =) All the scenery pictures remind me so much of how different the beautiful in Alaska is.
