Why do Texas and Alaska have to be so far apart!?!

I don't know whose idea it was to put Alaksa and Texas so far apart on the map. When we find out who it was, it won't matter.....
It would be so much easier to visit TX if Alaska was on the map where you usually see it...you know how they cram it in miniature at the bottom of the map, down in the water..
